QEP - Student Learning Initiative Topic Ideas

In response to a call for ideas from the QEP Topic Selection Team, ATC faculty, staff, and students submitted these 28 topic proposals between April and May 2012. Please take a moment to review the topics and comments.

  1. I believe this would be very helpful. As a student that is now in my 3rd semester here at Athens Tech, I can always spot then new students, because they are so lost the 1st day of classes. I attended GA Southern and they have an orientation day and it includes a tour and finished with you being able to sign up for your classes on the same day.

  2. An additional idea may be to have "seasoned" students stationed at each building entrance to assist new students with directions and/or other questions they may have. This could be done the first 3 or 4 days of the semester and might include members of the Student Avisory Council or other volunteers.

  3. LIke the idea of having students in small groups, allowing for students to interact with other students, and having them move around. Both of those factors would keep student engaged and alert and make for a more memorable, individualized experience.
